ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mr. Terrell grew up in a small town in Western Colorado during the Great Depression that began with the stock market crash of 1929. The economy did not recover until the start of World War Two. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps on July 7, 1943 and served as a crew member on a medium bomber during the war. After the war he returned home from Europe and married his high school sweetheart on September 20, 1946. He operated his own business until 1952, at which time he accepted a position with the Caterpillar Dealer in Colorado.

From 1952 until his retirement in 1984 Mr. Terrell held management positions with various Caterpillar Dealers throughout the Pacific area, Europe and the Middle East. He became a modern Gulliver, having lived in thirteen foreign countries over the following thirty-two years. Since his retirement he has remained active as a consultant in the construction industry as well as in the housing development industry. He also spent over three years researching and writing his book, HEROES AMONG US.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
I wish to thank my wife, Leta Terrell for her help in researching this book. I also want to extend my sincere and profound gratitude to Charles Jackson, one of my classmates, Tom Axelrod and Bill Bisard, members of the 70th Division, 274 Battalion, "K" Company. These men encouraged me, helped keep my spirits high, and contributed many suggestions and details to this book. Their guidance, assistance, and encouragement have been infinitely invaluable in allowing me to tell these stories.
My kudos and heartfelt thanks to my son, Gary, who helped me resolve the many problems I encountered while committing these chapters into computer language. His knowledge and computer skills were invaluable to me while writing this book. I also want to thank Mr. Marc Drzewwiecki for the excellent effort he made in editing my book.
I especially want to thank my daughter, Terry Webber, for sharing her excellent writing skills with me. Without her help and guidance from this group of people, my book could not have been written. Last, but not least I want to thank Anita Jump for suggesting Heroes Among Us as the title for my book, and Joe McBreen for designing building my web page.
